Getting excited

This past week in ISM we created ideas for our topic proposal and did another research assessment which this time I focused on dietetics and how the American food supply is not as high quality as in other parts of the world. One of my topic proposals was to write or make a website about a healthy diet or about changing the normal American diet. Reading the article about the poor quality of the U.S. food supply made me further want to do my topic proposal about changing the standard diet of Americans.

This upcoming week there is a big event coming up in ISM, the Business Symposium, where we can network with professionals in certain career fields. Even though I have a mentor I am excited to see what other people do for a living and how ISM or their career has impacted them. I think that it is unique how people choose certain careers and why they love the path they choose. Hopefully, I am able to make some good connections that will help further my understanding of business and dietetics but also of what the real world is like and how adults are in the outside world.

Perfecting the product

The past few sprints have been mainly focusing on perfecting and improving our product. I feel like we should have been done with product finalization by now but there is still so much to work to do. As of now, I just improved the chocolate flavor ball, and just started sprint 1.2 or sprint #3. This sprint mainly focuses on packaging design and cost. I am trying to design the packaging and what materials I could use. Our company values the environment and practices sustainability so I want that to be showcased in our packaging with any kind of biodegradable, recyclable, or compostable packaging. However, with sustainable packaging comes the price, so I am doing some research on different companies requesting quotes to see how much they charge. I am also re-testing the shelf life of all the new flavors with their chocolate coating so I know what kind of packaging is needed to ensure the product is protected. This will also help with our future sprint on how shipping will work.
